Like many of the projects I've taken on, I volunteered to launch the peer learning program at WCRG not because it was going to be easy—but because I thought it was going to be easy.
True to form, I took a relatively straightforward task and made it complicated.
To give myself some authority and the conference a little credibility, I began where all great researchers begin: I Googled "what is a peer learning conference." That simple query sent me down a rabbit hole of numerous articles on diagnostic errors, perceptual misses, cognitive bias, heuristics, and system-level failures. I also did a lot of detouring to Instagram Reels and racked up some serious high scores on Block Blast.
I discovered a wealth of valuable information about peer learning, as well as unexpected content on topics such as burnout, malpractice mitigation, and AI tools that didn't quite fit into the 30 minutes we had set aside for our conference. So, I figured I'd share this information in a newsletter rather than letting it disappear into my browser history.
My goal is to present material related to peer learning, as well as other timely and relevant content—things that are useful, occasionally funny, and quicker to read than starting a ticket with MTS.
The newsletter is for radiologists who want to stay "au courant," without drowning in another 5,000-word journal article—just bite-sized insights, skimmable in under a couple of minutes, but still worth your time.
Topics you might see:
Malpractice mitigation (without fear-mongering)
Burnout + health and wellness (the kind that doesn't involve scented candles)
Tools we use (and tolerate): Nuance, EPIC, Visage, AiDoc
Ergonomics, AI, and the future-state of medicine
Financial literacy, personal growth, and self-improvement
